Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Ann Morenzi

March 16, 1943 ~ July 3, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Mary Ann “Mary” (Zawislak) Morenzi, 74 , of St. Cloud, FL, was called home to our Lord, on Monday, July 3, 2017, in Kissimmee, FL. Born in Providence, RI to Stanley J. and Nellie (Evonska) Zawislak, she was the oldest of 3 children. She was a 1960 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Providence, then went on to employment at New England Telephone Company. During this time, she met her husband John, and was married on October 5, 1963, and was married for 54 years. After a short career with the “Telephone Company”, on January 30, 1965 and September 7, 1969, respectively, she welcomed her two beautiful children, John and Kristin, and settled in to becoming a full-time wife and mother. Her children were the most important part of her life.

After retiring to Florida in 2003, if someone would ask her if she was going on any vacations, she would always answer “Why would I travel anywhere else? Florida is where everyone wants to vacation. Living here is like being on vacation everyday”. She loved yellow flowers because they reminder her of the Florida sunshine. She also enjoyed going to Disney World, so much so, that she named her cat “Mickey”. She didn’t have many vices, but she was an avid “Days of our Lives” watcher for over 54 years, so her outings were always timed around “watching my soap opera”. She knew the characters as well as most people know their family and friends. Those of you who knew her well, know that she had an incredible sweet-tooth. She would think nothing of having a piece of chocolate cake for breakfast, or having a Dove Bar everyday until they were gone. If you suddenly had a yearning for sweets, you always knew where you could find them.

She was the daughter of the late Stanley J. and Nellie Zawislak, the mother of the late John Kevin Morenzi (1989), and the niece of the late Julia Evonska. She is survived by her devoted husband John F. Morenzi, her beloved daughter Kristin M. Morenzi, and son-in-law Jose Gonzalez, of St. Cloud, FL, who called her “my sunshine”. They had a special bond. She leaves behind her brother Richard Zawislak and wife Alice Myers of Cranston, RI, her sister Barbara Reilly and husband Art Reilly of St. Cloud, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston, RI on Wednesday, July 19 at 10 AM, with a private burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Taunton, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association.
