Ruby F. Chitwood, 83 of Kissimmee, after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer's she passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.
After graduating high school Ruby started working for Southern bell (AT&T) as a telephone operator. Ruby moved to Kissimmee with her husband John and 3 year old daughter Vicki in 1958. After settling in Kissimmee they had 2 more children Andy and Venita. Ruby retired from the telephone company 1992. She remained active with the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the Fortune Road Church of Christ. Ruby and John enjoyed traveling. After John passed Ruby enjoyed spending the winters with her best friend Rene Floyd.
Ruby was Preceded in death by her husband John Donald Chitwood.
Survivors include a son, Charles Andrew Chitwood of Leighton, AL.; two daughters, Vicki (Ken) Chitwood Clay of St. Cloud, FL. and Venita (Dennis) Chitwood Crawford of Kenansville, FL.; two sisters, Ola Mae (Wayne) Morris of Winchester, TN. and Margaret Steele of Winchester, TN.; four grandchildren, Kenneth Jonathan (Jinna) Clay, Stacey (Jeff)LaDon Clay-Taylor, Erin Chitwood and Drew Chitwood and four great-grandchildren, Logan Nathaniel Taylor, Lauren Avery Taylor, Skylar Jade Clay and Isabel Edgeworth.
Family will receive friends Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. with the service at 6:30 P.M. with Mr. Mark Copeland officiating in the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida with Mr. Mark Copeland officiating.
