Ruth Kuhns, loving mother, grandmother and longtime resident of Kissimmee, FL passed away on Friday May 19, 2017 at Keystone Rehabilitation Center.
Ruth was born Ruth Jane Boden on March 5th, 1932 in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six. As a teenager, she was a majorette in the Drum and Bugle Corps of Monroeville. She graduated from Turtle Creek High School in 1950, and married her husband Dale E. Kuhns later that year. The Kuhns’ moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana while Dale served in the US Air force. In the mid-1950s, the Kuhns’ moved to Lake Katrine, NY to raise their four children, where they stayed until 1991, when they moved to Kissimmee, FL with youngest daughter, Sandra.
Ruth was a compassionate, kind and funny woman who dedicated all of her time to her family. As a mother, she was heavily involved in her children’s education, frequently volunteering as a room mother and making costumes for school productions. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf with her husband, as well as sewing, baking, painting, spending time with her grandchildren, and making people laugh.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dale E. Kuhns of Kissimmee, FL, her children Robert D. Kuhns of Ellenville, NY, Sharon L. Davis and husband Wes Davis of Accord, NY, Judith Kuhns of Kissimmee, FL, and Sandra L. Kuhns of Kissimmee, FL, as well as her 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church at 15 Church St, Kissimmee, Fl 34741. Conrad and Thompson Funeral Home 511 Emmett St Kissimmee, FL 34741 (407) 847-3188 has been trusted with the arrangements.
