Billy John Everage, 89 of Kissimmee passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, April 6, 2019. He was born in Brantley, Alabama, the son of Morgan Everage and Fannie Jo Nichols Everage. He was a retired Communications Engineer for the Department of Defense and he was Baptist. After graduating from Brantley High School in Alabama where he played football, he worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company in Alabama before enlisting in the United State Air Force in 1947 during the Korean War. He was stationed at Eglin Air Force base and Alaska.
After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he went to work for Department of Defense and also owned two gas service stations on Merritt Island, Florida.
Upon moving to Kissimmee in 1967 they purchased Maxie's Fish Camp.
After retiring from the Department of Defense, he and his wife started Everage Commercial Upholstery in Kissimmee in 1972 and was later joined in the business by son Grant. Bill was active in the business until his death.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cocoa, Scottish Rite Bodies, Bahia Shrine Temple both of Orlando, Order of The Eastern Star, Fraternal Order of The Eagles, Arie #4048, Kissimmee and was a Charter Member of Merritt Island Elks Lodge.
His hobbies were traveling, camping, fishing and hunting with great friends at Gardner Marsh on Lake Kissimmee.
Preceded in Death by his father: Morgan Everage, mother: Fannie Jo Lanier, his twin sister: Betty Jean Everage and sisters: Frances Bozeman and Becky Brown.
Survived by his wife of 69 Years: Mary Everage, sons: Grant (Peggy) Everage of Kissimmee, Bill (Linda) Everage of Mount Pleasant, TN; daughter: Gail Tindall of Columbia, TN; grandchildren: Cortni Tindall, Clint (Jillian) Everage and Grant and Peggy's Godson Schrade McDonald.
Celebration of Life services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel, Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home, with the Reverend Cathy Thacker of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Alfred, FL. officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time (10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.) in the chapel.
Reception to follow the services at the Fraternal Order of The Eagles, 15 W. Darlington Avenue, Kissimmee, FL. 34741
