Bonnie Jean Johnston, 87 of Kissimmee, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee the daughter of Christian and Florence Tubbs. She moved to Kissimmee in 1962 from Edgewood, Pennsylvania. She was the owner and manager of the Johnston Family Inn. She was also active in the Kissimmee Library program “Books by Mail”; the Council on Aging; and she was a talk show host for WACY Radio. Jean was also involved in the Florida greeting service as well as many local community service groups, clubs, and organizations such as The Osceola Art & Culture Center; the first Cub Scout Den in Kissimmee; she volunteered and helped with the construction of the YMCA, the Kissimmee Welcome Center and was a fundraising participant at the Elks Club. Jean enjoyed traveling including overseas trips, voyages on the QE2 and multiple other cruises including Alaska. She loved hot air ballooning, disco dancing, art, music, antiques, Disney, 4th of July parties at her Kissimmee lakefront house, which she restored. The “Lake House” property was one of the first homes built on the lakefront. At the age of 42 following her husband, Raymond E. Johnston’s passing, Jean attended and received an Associate’s Degree from Valencia College with a 4.0 grade point average. She then attended and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontology from the University of South Florida.

Bonnie Jean made many long-lasting friendships. She could find beauty in all those she spent time with. She also found beauty in all the things she collected. Hugs from close friends and family were her favorite expression of love. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

Bonnie Jean is survived by her children Susan Johnston Sheilds and her husband John, Bill Johnston and his wife Ellen, Chris Gordon, Ron Zupcic, Nick Johnston and his wife Karen, Raymond Johnston and his wife Joyce, Linda Johnston, and Eleanor Johnston. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Johnston of the Faith Fellowship of Saint Cloud presiding.
