Charles Allen Whitston, Allen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 5, 2018 at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Whitston, son Nick Whitston (Shannon), daughters Kelli Taylor (Chris) and Tammy Collins, brother Dewayne Starling and sister Frances Smith. He had 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Richardson Whitston, father Adam Whitston and brothers Leon Starling and David Whitston.
Allen was born on June 29, 1945 in Kissimmee, Florida into an Osceola County pioneer family where he was a life long resident. He attended Osceola High School and Jones Junior College. He was a Deputy Sheriff under his uncle, Claude Tindall, before starting his career in real estate. He owned Osceola Appraisal and was a development real estate broker. Allen loved Kissimmee and was instrumental in developing and implementing the vision for Kissimmee’s Community Redevelopment Area as the 1st Chairman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kissimmee. He was an avid golfer and traveled the world to play. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife.
Allen was loved by many and will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life memorial service for Allen will be 12:00 Noon Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Cathy Thacker, First United Methodist Church, Lake Alfred, Officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time ( 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 Noon).
The family has requested donations to Vitas Community Connection (http://vitascommunityconnection.org/community-connection/donate) in lieu of flowers.
