Daphne Anita Foster Williams was born on January 18, 1936 to Doris Foster and Leonard Goodall in Mayfield, Manchester in Jamaica, West Indies. She grew up with her beloved grandparents, Aida and Edward Foster. In 1962 she had her first born and only son, Daniel Wayne Montague Lloyd. In 1965 Daphne migrated to New York to join her mother, Aunt Dor, and uncle, Lionel (Dolly) Foster. In 1967 she started her career as a CNA at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital in New York City, where she spent 20 years providing care for countless patients fighting terminal diseases such as cancer and AIDS.
In 1974 she married Andrew Williams and became stepmother to his four children, Andrea, Pat, Donovan, and Sonia. In 1975 they had Sharlene Simone, followed by Kameika Nicole in 1978. After more than 20 years in New York, they moved to Poinciana, FL in 1987 where Daphne served as a home healthcare provider for 13 years. Daphne was a devout Christian and she and Andrew were both proud members of Poinciana Christian Church for many years. After Andrew died in 2011 Daphne became a member at First Baptist Church of Poinciana.
Her friends and family lovingly knew her as Aunt Daph and were always welcomed in her home. On Saturdays her house was full of people and you could always find a big pot of soup on the stove. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She was a lover of different cultures, especially their food. Whether they were hungry or not, no one left Aunt Daph’s house without a full stomach. Taking care of others was always the most important thing to her, especially concerning her family. She helped raise her grandchildren and when she retired in 2000, she became a full time caregiver for her mother; later providing full time care to her husband Andrew when he fell ill.
Daphne is survived by her son Daniel Wayne Montague Lloyd; daughters Sharlene Simone Williams and Kameika Nicole Williams-Young; step daughters, Heather Andrea Williams, Lois Patricia (Pat) Nembhard, Sonia Claire Williams; grandchildren Robert Lloyd, Laila Lloyd, Derrick Huggins, Daniel (Monte) Lloyd II, Devin Brown, Journey Young, Trooper Young; great-grandchildren, Robert Lloyd II, Lea-Avery Lloyd, Grayson Lloyd, Cayden Williams; son-in-law Timothy (Malik) Young; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
