DeLors Irene Johnson, 92 0f Kissimmee, Florida passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017. She was born April 15, 1925 at home on a 600 acre farm in Castlewood, South Dakota, the youngest of six children and the daughter of William W. and Nelda B. Heilman Piper. Growing up, Irene attended Bible School and nurses training in St. Paul, Minnesota (1944 - 1950). Her first job was nursing at hospitals in Northern Minnesota on the Chippewa Indian Reservation for three years. in February, Irene began her Missionary career in Gabon, Africa, she was a single lady working in a clinic that kept growing and growing until in 1976, the clinic became the Bongolo Hospital of Gabon.

in 1973, Irene married Floyd Shank and they returned to Gabon where she worked with the medical team and Floyd was Dean of the Bible School. Irene and Floyd also spent two years in Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo, where Floyd was the Dean of the Seminary. In 1982 Irene and Floyd retired from the mission fields to Gainesville, Florida where Irene continued nursing and Floyd continued his writing. In 1993 they moved to Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, Florida and in 2000 Floyd passed away. Irene continued nursing at Good Samaritan Village as well as doing a lot of volunteer work.

Dan Johnson's wife Elsie was a good friend of Irene and Irene helped care for her when she became ill in the Health Care Center until she was promoted. Sometime later Irene and Dan began to date and in 2006 Irene married Dan Johnson, together they have served in their church and community and in the country of Haiti.

Irene is survived by her loving husband, Dan Johnson of Kissimmee, Florida; son: Marvin J. Shank (Patricia) of London, Ontario, Canada; daughter: Joanne Shank (Ray) of Bloomington, Indiana and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Good Samaritan Church in Kissimmee. A Service to Celebrate the Life of DeLors Irene Johnson will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Good Samaritan Church with Rev. Dr. Marc Haynes officiating. Interment will follow at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery.
