Dolores Joann Colbert, 85, of Kissimmee, FL passed away Wednesday, February, 28, 2018. She was born in East Brunswick, New Jersey and graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in South Amboy, NJ in 1951. She married Melvin G. Colbert on November 8, 1952. The Colbert family moved to Kissimmee, Florida in 1968 from Huntsville, AL. Dolores was a devoted wife and mother. She was a dedicated member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Her involvement included Minister of the Eucharist, Volunteering with the Council of Catholic Women, Senior Citizen Christmas Celebrations, Church Bazaars, Bingo, and singing in the Choir. In 1990 she helped to start Project 5000 which, over 21 years, fulfilled 60,000 boxes of food for the needy.
Dolores is survived by her sons: Wayne (Judy) of Rogersville, TN, Gary (Suk) of Phoenix, AZ, and Kenneth of St. Cloud, FL; daughters: Donna Bass (David) of St. Cloud, FL and Christina Flynn of Orlando, FL; grandchildren: Wayne Colbert II, Jason Colbert, Ginger Fortunato, Holly Romack, Ryan Flynn and Kelly Flynn, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Dolores is preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Bertha Dietrick; husband, Melvin Gene Colbert; daughter in-law, Rebecca Patrick; granddaughter, Tammy Colbert, six sisters and five brothers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home, 511 Emmett Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1603 N. Thacker Avenue, Kissimmee, FL with Fr. Mariano Catura as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Osceola Memory Gardens.
