Dorothy Morrish, 92 of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Golden Age Senior Living Center. Dorothy was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the fifth of eight children born to Cassandra Rose and Thomas Vernon, she was the last of four daughters. When Dorothy graduated from Montego Bay Girls School, she became interested in dress making. After a period of apprenticeship she branched out on her own, her reputation and skills kept her extremely busy. She had set her sights higher and decided that the United States would be the place that would give her the opportunity to take the next step in her career.
She migrated to Brooklyn, New York to work and continue her education in dress design. She took a job in the Garment District of Manhattan. Dorothy enrolled at “Maison Sapho School of Dress Making and Design”. Dorothy graduated on September 19, 1959 earning her Certificate in Fashion Design. Her career took her to “Kasper Suits” where she worked until her retirement. She lived in the Bronx for over 50 years and after retirement she relocated to Kissimmee, Florida.
Dorothy is survived by her son Brian, her granddaughter Cassandra, her daughter-in-law Maria, her brother Arnold, and a host of nephews, nieces and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12 Noon on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be follow the visitation at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel, at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home with Chaplain Clark Rivas officiating.
