Dorothy Marie Wallner

Dorothy M. Wallner, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2020, in Orlando, Florida. She was born on January 1, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Caroline Trojak. She and her mother shared a special bond, as they were both born on New Years Day. Dorothy was the seventh of eight children to bless her parents. In 1953 she married her husband, Joe, who passed away just four months ago. After celebrating 67 years of marriage in January, they are together again.

Dorothy started her career at the Wrigley Company where she met Joe. She often talked about their early days of dancing and bowling. With an immense love for family, she left her job and became a full-time mother to their two wonderful children for 19 years. She later went back to work, this time for Banker’s Life Insurance. She loved to tell stories about her days in the office even 25 years after she retired.

In 1993, Dorothy became a grandmother to her one and only grandchild. Little did she know, they would become the best of friends.

Dorothy and Joe moved their life to Florida in 2001. After many vacations to beaches around the world, Dorothy and Joe settled in Ft. Myers Beach. Dorothy became an active member of the Women’s Club at her church, and supported many of the island’s local shops.

In 2013, Dorothy and Joe moved to Celebration, Florida, to spend more time with family — especially their granddaughter who loves them both so much and misses them dearly. Dorothy and her granddaughter grew closer than ever, and spent a lot of their time celebrating their big wins at the bingo hall.

Dorothy’s Catholic faith was very important to her; she rarely missed a Sunday mass and kept the Golden Rule close to heart. She cooked dinners often, but there was nothing like her homemade chocolate chip cookies, cakes and brownies.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, Stanley; two children, Robert (Shirley) and Donna (Richard); granddaughter, Jennifer; and many nieces and nephews who she loves dearly.
