Gregory Scott Nelson, 64, of Kissimmee, FL, formerly of Superior, WI, died on Friday, August 21, 2020, in the arms of his daughter Jennifer and fiancée Trish. In death he enhanced the life of others through his gift of tissue donation.
Greg, the son of Eleanor and Ivor Nelson, was born on April 6, 1956 in Superior, WI. He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1974 where he was heavily involved with DECA and Junior Achievement. His ambition and entrepreneurial spirit led him down many different career paths, with his time mostly spent in the travel and telecommunications industry. He lived and worked in numerous locations before he retired in 2014 due to poor health. Greg was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and most recently had taken an interest in the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team, a shared interest with his grandson, Jack.
Greg is survived by his children Jennifer (Brandon) McCune of South Sioux City, NE and Luke Nelson of South Sioux City, NE, both children from his first wife, Linda Davidson; his children Carly Nelson of Columbus, OH, and Nathan Nelson of Wickliffe, OH, both children from his second wife, Jill Rupsic Nelson; his brother Edward Nelson of Maplewood, MN, sister Nancy (David) Schull of Englewood, FL, grandchildren Jack, Danny, Jenna, and Dylan McCune all of South Sioux City, NE, his fiancée, Patricia “Trish” Burns of Kissimmee, FL, his little buddy Matthew Burns of Orlando, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ivor Nelson, Jr., his brother James Nelson, and his sister Marianne Patton.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Superior, WI at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
