March 15, 1937 ~ December 18, 2020 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

Jerome J. Sheppard passed away at the age of 83 on December 18, 2020. He was known as Jerry to his loved ones and friends. In fact, his favorite phrase was ‘What’s the Story Jerry’ from an old commercial in the 1960’s. That phrase inspired him to create his own book about his life for his friends and family called ‘What’s the Story Jerry.”

He leaves behind a daughter, son-in-law, son, three granddaughters, six great- grandchildren, a special companion and many friends.

In younger years, Jerry loved to play tennis and ping-pong. He always had a brilliant mind; he could remember anything, which made him an incredible game player. His favorite games were hearts, pinochle, mahjong, samba, rummykub and most recently farkle. Actually, there was not a game that Jerry did not like playing. He always liked a challenge and wanted to keep his mind sharp by trying new games.

Jerry loved his family very much and he loved to share with everyone how proud he was of each member. His wife of 42 years passed away nine years and three days prior. Jerry enjoyed having companionship and after Dolly his wife passed away. He had seven years with a caring companion, Carol, who passed away in the spring of 2019. His last companion he met recently at his home for nine months at Steeplechase independent retirement facility. Joy brought such joy, just as her name says, to Jerry for 6 months. Their favorite things to do together was play farkle, share meals, laugh, and especially ride together in Jerry’s golf cart to play Trivia with his daughter, son-in-law, two of their closest friends and his mom.

Jerry will be missed tremendously and those who know him will never forget him.

Due to Covid, there will not be a traditional service. However, to celebrate his life, his daughter will be posting a memorial video in his honor and share the link to those who would like to watch and share a comment about this unforgettable man.

In his memory, those who would like to contribute, you can offer a donation to the World Health Organization (WHO). They are leading and coordinating the global effort, supporting countries to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic. People and organizations who want to help fight the pandemic and support WHO and collaborates can now donate through the COVID-Solidarity Response Fund for WHO at www.COVID19ResponseFund.org.
