JoAnn E. Denmon Vickers, born January 10, 1944. Passed away on July 5, 2021. She was born in Jasper County, Texas to Cecil and Olga (Mason) Denmon. The family moved to Florida when she was a young girl. She went to school in Okeechobee and Ft Pierce with aspirations of nursing school.
She married Paul Vickers on September 1, 1961, and became a wife, mother and a ranch hand whether she liked it or not. She was raised as a city girl but quickly proved herself as a top notch hand on the ranch with her husband.
From 1961 to 1991 she moved with her husband and kids to work various ranches in Central Florida. She had a partnership in a video store for 5 years in between ranch work before settling permanently in Kenansville.
She was an exceptional seamstress, where she made her husbands shirts and her kid’s clothes. Paul has not worn a store bought shirt in 55yrs. She was an avid crocheter and quilt maker. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren, they were her heart. She was a friend to those around her and always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a devout Christian and loved her church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Leathy Batts, and Mary Price, brothers: Silas, Wincell, and Melvin Denmon.
She is survived by her husband Paul, daughter Belleva (Dale) Clark, sons Dion (Jennifer) Vickers, and Scott (Tina) Vickers. Her grandchildren, Will and Erick Clark, Joe Sutton, Jordan Navarre, Clay Vickers and Kendall Vickers. And her brother Felix (Sherry) Denmon.
Funeral services for JoAnn will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Kenansville with the Reverend David Wallace Officiating. Interment to follow at Kenansville Cemetery. Active casketbearers: Justin Vickers, Cliff Vickers, Stoney Vickers, Rowdy Harvey, Chris Sapp and Ed Staten. Honorary casketbearers: Bruce Vickers and Donald Hamilton.
The family will receive friends one hour prior service (10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.).
