Joseph R. Wallner (Joe), 91, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 20, 2020, in Celebration, Florida. He was born on March 13, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Hermine Wallner. Joe served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy (Korean War), and always wore an anchor to show his patriotism. In 1953 he married his loving wife, Dorothy.
After managing an in-house print shop for a major corporation, Joe started his own printing company. His business never stopped him from attending the Cubs’ home opener. He loved the Cubs, spending time at Wrigley Field, and (of course) Bernie’s Tap.
After 70 years in Chicago, in 2001, it was time to move to Florida. After many vacations to beaches around the world, Joe and Dorothy settled in Ft. Myers Beach — where Joe enjoyed walking the beach to collect seashells, which he used to make beautiful arrangements for his family and friends. But no keepsake was complete without an American flag.
In 2013, Joe and Dorothy moved to Celebration, Florida, to spend more time with family and his granddaughter whose life he played an important role. There were a lot of smiles, a lot of laughs, and a lot of visits to Walt Disney World.
Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; sister, Ella; brother, Robert; two children, Robert (Shirley) and Donna (Richard); granddaughter, Jennifer; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved.
The family is under the care of CONRAD & THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME 511 Emmett St Kissimmee, FL 34741
