Kathryn Jo Roberson

July 28, 1945 ~ June 6, 2020 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

Lifelong Osceola County resident Kathryn J. Roberson passed away peacefully at home June 6th surrounded by family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 74 years old. She is survived by her husband John Roberson, two sons, Ryan and Jason, and six loving grandchildren Logan, Matthew, Alex, Jacob, Joy, and June.  She is predeceased by her parents Ferman and Verna Bass and her sister Marca Dooley and her brother Ferman Bass, Jr.

Kathy grew up in Kissimmee Park during a time of cow pastures, orange groves, and frequent family fishing trips to Sebastian Inlet.  Living in this unspoiled paradise fostered her lifelong love of the outdoors. She graduated from St.Cloud high school in the Class of 1963.

She met her lifelong love John Roberson in her 20s and they were married in 1966.  Together they had two sons, Ryan and Jason, and had three successful businesses in Kissimmee including Roberson's Sporting Goods, Roscoe's Bar, and Roscoe's South through which they became well known and loved members of the Osceola County community. They took frequent family trips that were always some kind of outdoor adventure.  Whether sports fishing in Alaska, hunting in Montana or Colorado, catching lobsters in the Keys, or fishing at Sebastian Inlet , Kathy's passion for the outdoors was unrivaled.

In her later years she and John continued to enjoy the outdoors at their cattle ranch in Holopaw and surf fishing in Melbourne Beach. At the ranch she and John also had a deer farm for many years where they hand raised whitetail deer.  Many stories were told of their trophy bucks that would eat apples out of your hand.  Kathy touched the soul of everyone she knew with her enthusiasm for life, her wisdom, patience, and beautiful smile.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Finney Point Cemetery in St. Cloud, Florida with Pastor Rodney Rowe of the St. Cloud Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
