Larry D. Vickers, 74 of Kenansville, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. A member of a Pioneer Osceola County Family, Larry was born in Kissimmee the son of Reverend Charlie J. and Ola Boney Vickers and was a lifelong Osceola County resident. Larry was the 9th of 15 children born to the Vickers family in Kenansville. He was a well know cattleman working as manager for Russell Ranch and Mills Ranch, and head of the cow crew at Flying B Ranch. In 1982, Larry started his own company, Vickers Fencing, where he shared his passion of building fences, cowpens and barns for many ranches in Osceola, Okeechobee and Indian River counties. In July 1996, Larry left the fencing world to reenter the ranching life full time at Mills Ranch. He lived and breathed the beef cattle operation. Larry was very passionate and knowledgeable about the industry and he spent the last 24 years of his life doing what he loved, no doubt.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Jessie Vickers of Kenansville, Florida; his daughters: Terisha Vickers-Syslo (Rudy) of Fontana-Dam, North Carolina and Sandy Vickers of Cape Coral, Florida; his brothers: Paul Vickers (JoAnn), Wayne Vickers (Becky), Bruce Vickers (Cathy); his sisters: Mary Lou Madison (Jimmy), Charlotte Baisden, Becky Ayres (Jesse), Sandra Collins, Fay O'Berry; and his granddaughter: Elyssa Boykin. Larry was preceded in death by his grandson Larry Wayne Logsdon.
Private Family Graveside Services for Larry will be at 11:00 A..M. Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Kenansville Cemetery, Kenansville, Florida with the Reverend David Wallace and Reverend Charles Colburn, officiating. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date due to the current pandemic situation.
