Lawrence Rogers

November 7, 1946 ~ January 25, 2019 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Tribute

Lawrence Douglas “Doug” Rogers, born November 7, 1946 in Mt. Vernon. OH to Lawrence K. and Dorothy J. (Wolford) Rogers, reunited with them and other beloved family and friends, by the Grace of our Lord, on January 25, 2019 in Celebration FL, at the age 72.
Doug was a Graduate of Centerburg High School, Class of ‘64; attended Glenville State College; and achieved a Bachelors of Arts degree from Kent State University. Following graduation, Doug was employed at the Marion County Welfare Department (where he met and mentored his future wife during her summer internship), and retired from the Franklin County Department of Human Services, where he worked for over 20 years.
Underneath his “Grumpy” veneer, was a kind, generous, humorous spirit. Doug donated over 17 gallons of blood through the American Red Cross; supported Veterans by volunteering at the Chalmers P. Wylie Veterans Care Center and the Chillicothe Veterans Hospital. He served as a roster judge at the polls, and was past Scout Master of Boy Scout Troops 422, 622, and 800 for approximately 15 years, where he was affectionately referred to as “Mr. Mom” by the boys due to his preparedness to meet any need during camping trips. Doug was a supporter of the Groveport-Madison Football teams, and for several years cooked hearty pre-game meals for the team. He continued with financial support of the program to the present school year. Doug supported Kent State Football through a scholarship endowment.
Doug attended and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, South.
In addition to his parents, Doug was proceeded in death by his sister Rebecca (Orange) Lane, niece Charlotte, and nephews Roger and Daniel.

Survived by his wife of 45 years, Angeline (Mascari), and his beloved sons Lawrence Gregory (Greg) and Nathan Douglas; brothers, Dusty (Bonnie), and Homer Davis (Janet); sister-in-laws, Alice (Alfred) Sisson, Charlotte Boehm, Becky (Dennis) Mascari-Cox, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Doug would want you to remember him with a smile. If you would like to commemorate his memory, please make a donation to your favorite charity, Asbury United Methodist Church, South, Groveport Athletics or consider becoming a blood donor.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4760 Winchester Pike, Columbus, Ohio 43232.
