Leslie Edward "Eddie" Wooten, 73 of Trenton, Florida, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. A member of a Pioneer Osceola County family, Eddie was born in Kissimmee, a third generation Floridian, the son of Dee and Viola Wooten on February 26, 1947. He was a lifelong Osceola County resident until he and his wife moved to Trenton a little over three years ago.
He was retired from the Florida Department of Transportation as a Certified Highway Inspector. After retirement he continued to work with Subcontractors.
He was a member of Bell Baptist Church in Bell, Florida. Prior to that he was a charter member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Loughman, Florida, were he served as a deacon.
He was a member of Orange Blossom Lodge No. 80, F.& A.M., Kissimmee, and was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Orlando.
Eddie was a God fearing man, with a keen sense of humor. He was full of character, always looking to tell a joke or ruffle a feather.
He was a passionate man deeply concerned for people. He’d often be the first to notice the absence of a church member and check on them with a call or visit. It would not be uncommon to bump in to him and Mrs. Martha visiting in the nursing home.
His quiet “amen”, passion for God, passion for the church, and passion for all that he believed, will be missed.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Manila and brother Roger.
He is survived by his wife Martha, daughter Deanna, granddaughter Brittany, and sister Alice, two uncles Hardy Giddens and Alvin Giddens, and aunt Louise Sifford. Several nieces and nephews.
