Tribute

Lorraine Yvonne Cole (nee Robinson) the daughter of the late Lucille and Vennel Robinson was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies on September 30th, 1939. Lorraine was the third of nine children. Lorraine went to live with her grandmother, Ida Robinson (Mother Rob), and young aunt Kathleen in Kingston when she was 9 years old. Kathleen was an only child living at home and requested that Lorraine come to live with them. Years later, when Lorraine was about 11 years old, Kathleen gave birth to her daughter, Madge. Lorraine immediately bonded with the baby and they were inseparable. When Kathleen migrated to England, Lorraine and her grandmother helped to raise Madge. Their bond was so strong that Madge grew up loving Lorraine as her second Mom.
Lorraine attended the St Joseph Girls school where she graduated in 1953. She later migrated to the United States in 1961, where she worked as a domestic worker to support herself and her grandmother back in Jamaica while attending Cosmetology School in New York. While living in N.Y. she lived with a friend Ms. Lil and her sister Millicent affectionately known as Sister Cherry.  Lorraine returned to Jamaica in October 1964 after obtaining her cosmetology license and became an entrepreneur by opening her own successful hairdressing shop on East Street.
Lorraine met and married Leopold Cole on June 26, 1965. The couple later migrated to the United State in 1967. Lorraine loved The Lord and was a contender for the faith, and most proud of her relationship with Jesus Christ. Her favorite motto was “only what’s done for Christ will last. She was baptized at the Greater Refuge Temple in New York City and a second baptism in the Jordan River. She became a missionary and earned a Bachelor's degree in Religious Education and a Master’s in theology. Lorraine loved doing outreach work, she visited prisons and hospitals on a monthly basis, extending love and fellowship to those in need.
Lorraine loved education and always sought to advance herself and others in her community. She attended the City University of New York and Columbia University School of Professional Studies where she studied Social Work and became a Case Worker at The Open Door Shelter in N.Y.C. She believed in Spiritual education as well. She attended The Church of Christ Bible Institute and Evangelical Seminaries where she obtained numerous degrees.
Lorraine was a lover of knowledge and always staying relevant. She earned another degree in Sign Language because she believed it would effectively assist clients in her area of work. No one was left behind under guidance. She was passionate about The Lord, her family and humanity. She enjoyed cooking, fine arts and traveling. She traveled extensively with her beloved church in New York to conventions, retreats, parts of Africa, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.

Lorraine Yvonne Cole relocated to Kissimmee, Florida with her husband in 1994. Her husband became ill after a couple of years and Lorraine cared for him on his sick bed, leading him to repentance and acceptance of the gift of salvation. Her great light was one that inspired others. She was caring and fun, with an infectious laugh. She embodied love and served others.
