Marilyn "Sissy" Platt

October 20, 1939 ~ June 29, 2022 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tribute

Marilyn "Sissy" Platt was born October 20, 1939 to Minor and Marjorie Platt in Melbourne, FL and left this world to be with the Lord on June 29,2022.
Sissy was the 2nd born of 7 children, Marjorie Murphy, Mary Monts De Oca, Minor (Buddy) Platt, Harold (HotShot) Platt, Roy Platt and Paul Platt.
She grew up in Melbourne, Florida.  She attended Melbourne Elementary School and graduated from Melbourne High School in 1957.  After graduation she attended the Jones Business College in Orlando where she graduated in September 1958.
Her Grandma Shave made sure all the kids attended the First Christian Church of Melbourne every Sunday.  Sissy was a member of the Church choir and her Mother played the piano.  After church the family would gather for Sunday dinner of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans and sweet iced tea.
After dinner Grandma Shave and her mother would gather all the kids up and head to the Indian Atlantic beach where they would hunt shells, periwinkles and sand fleas.  At the end of the day they would stop at the Indian River on their way home to jump in and wash the salt from the ocean off and cook hotdogs on the grill.  These were good times.
Sissy and her siblings were often the cow crew for their dad Minor.  She rode a little bay mare called Tiny and her brother Buddy said she could out work the boys.  Most of her siblings and her mom and dad enjoyed hunting on the marsh, Sissy did not partake of this activity as she did not believe in killing Bambi.
She lived with her sister Mary and her family in Kenansville.  When Mary and Bobby moved to Okeechobee, Sissy went to live with her Aunt Sybil and Uncle Slim Partin.  While living with Sybil and Slim, Sissy took a job working for Murray Bronson at the Osceola County Tax Collector office in Kissimmee, FL.  Sissy worked there for over 30 years and made many friends and memories.  Her house was a place where everyone was welcome and where she hosted  many baby showers, wedding showers, birthday parties and many Christmas open houses.  She enjoyed decorating her house for all the holidays and dearly loved to shop.  She retired from the Tax Collector's office and she and her sister Mary along with other friends traveled to several different places.
Sissy Loved her Family and they Loved her!  In her younger years she would gather all the nieces and nephews (around 10 or 12) and load them all up and take them to the movies where she would "scalp" a few when they were being unruly.  They would all get a drink and popcorn.  At Christmas time she made sure everyone had a present under the tree at Grandma's house.  She was a kind soul and was willing to help anyone in need.  Sissy will be missed by her friends and family.  Sissy was saved and knew her Savior Jesus Christ and is now walking without her wheelchair in a much better place.

Sissy is survived by sister Mary Montsdeoca and a brother Minor J. "Buddy" Platt Jr. many nephews and nieces and many great nephews and nieces.
