Norma Jean Carroll, known to family and friends as “Jean”, passed away September 21, 2018 in Tallahassee, Florida. Jean was born September 23, 1933 in Kissimmee, FL to Fred Burton and Lessie Padgett Burton, both deceased. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kissimmee and a lifelong member of the Silver Spurs Riding Club. Jean will forever be remembered for her style, grace, quick wit, humor and love of music which included playing piano. She was a compassionate and loving caregiver to her Mother for many years until her passing. Her happiest times were spent with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Allen D. “Spike” Carroll. They met while attending Osceola High School, both graduating with the class of 1951. Spike was the love of her life, her children find comfort knowing they are together forever. Jean leaves behind her brother, Bill Burton (Claudia) of Tallahassee, Florida; daughter, Pam Roberts (Charlie) of Tallahassee, Florida; son, Allen D. “Doug” Carroll Jr., of Kissimmee, Florida. Beloved Mimi to her Grandsons and Great- Grandsons; Josh Roberts (Chelsea) of Tallahassee, Florida; Allen D. Carroll III, Sanford, Florida; Spike Roberts and Freeman Roberts of Tallahassee, Florida; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her Children wish to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate and loving care given their Mother by the nurses and staff at Tapestry Senior Living of Tallahassee. They are most grateful to Deb Simmons of Senior Transitions for her council and love.

The Family will receive guests on Wednesday evening, September 26th from 5 to 7 pm at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. A graveside celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Thursday, September 27th at 10:00am at Rose Hill Cemetery, 1615 Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee, Florida, with the Reverend Wayne Cook of First United Methodist Church of Titusville officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, Florida 32308; the Alzheimer’s Association of Central and North Florida; or your favorite charity.
