Tribute

Mrs. Rita Redd, heard the Angel of the Lord calling her to eternal rest on Sunday, September 2, 2018, in Commonwealth Senior Living, Hampton, Virginia.  She was born on July 19, 1928, the daughter of the late James and Fannie Cade, of Luxora, Arkansas.
At an early age, Rita became a member of Southern Baptist Church, in St. Louis, Missouri.  She attended and graduated from school in St. Louis.  Upon graduating from high school, she relocated to New York, where she met and married the love of her life, Pannell Redd.  She retired from the United States Postal Service in 1988, after more than twenty-five years of dedicated service.  Upon retirement, she and Pannell moved to Kissimmee, Florida, where they lived until his death on August 27, 2010.  They enjoyed over forty years of marital bliss.  She later moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to live with her sister, Margaret Scott.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Idella Hankin and great-niece, Monique Mitchell.  She leaves to cherish fond memories with her sister, Margaret Scott; brother, Gerald Anderson; nephew, Gerald Mitchell; niece, Andrea Mitchell/Tizol; stepson, Ronald Redd (Lynda); great-nephew, Gabriel Torres; dear friends, Annett Burke and Diane Taylor; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 5, 2018, in Whiting’s Chapel with Minister Christopher Stone and Rev. Morris L. Randall, officiating.  Interment will be on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, Florida.  Family and friends will assemble at the chapel by 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  Mrs. Redd may be viewed on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of her service.
