Tribute

Ruth Elaine Carter, 73, passed away on July 30th, 2019 at 9:45pm in Orlando, Florida. Ruth was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on November 6th, 1945 to the late Chester Carter and Marie Lambert.

Ruth was known for being a firecracker in every aspect of her life. Her fierce personality was hardly contained by her fun-sized exterior. She had a strong opinion about everything, including her coffee (it had to be strong and it had to be dark). Her quick wit kept everyone around her on their toes; no one could ever quite predict what might come out of her mouth, and even in her final days, she kept her family laughing with her harmless teasing and sarcastic humor.

Ruth is best described as a unique character. As an avid sports fan, she could often be found heckling athletes on the TV; she especially loved baseball, football and NASCAR – anything except basketball, she would say. She frequently enjoyed watching various crime dramas and daytime soap operas, often pausing to point out the actors she thought were the cutest. As her family knew well, Ruth was quite the competitor. During game nights, it didn’t matter if it was a game of cards or a friendly round of Mario Kart (which she always played as character Yoshi), she showed no mercy. Ruth had a particularly soft spot for Disney movies and The Looney Toons, though Tweety Bird was always her favorite and could be found on many of her favorite t-shirts. Above all else, Ruth loved spending time with her family – especially her many grandkids. She made sure we always felt special, whether that meant sneaking us an extra brownie after dinner or letting it slide when we chugged all of her unsweetened iced tea. No one went forgotten on birthdays or holidays, and she took the time to memorize each of our unique interests. Even when things got tough, she always tried to support her family the best that she could. She loved us all dearly, and she never forgot to show us in her own special way.

Ruth is survived by children Dennis Rebar, Debbie Rebar, Christina Glascoe, and Laura Brannon, grandchildren Keirston Sapp, Taylor Napier, Katelynn Niebergall, Frederick Niebergall, Kaci Ally, Alexis Ault, Kaylie Glascoe, Margaret Glascoe, Thomas Glascoe, and Kevin Delafield, brother Paul Carter, and sister-in-law Fran Banzhaf Carter.
