Sarah Crosby Yates, age 90 of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on January 5th, 2019. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 7, 1928. She was the daughter of Marie and A.F. Crosby and married Joe D. Yates, a member of a pioneer family from Kissimmee, Florida. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a loving protective mother and homemaker. She was also a very competent business woman having owned and operated her own dress shop for a number of years in Booneville, Arkansas. Throughout her life she and her family lived in Kissimmee, Florida, Vero Beach, FL, Booneville, Arkansas, Elk City, Oklahoma and Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Anita (Nicki) Lasiter Murphy.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy C. Yates of Fort Smith, AR and a son, Joel M. Yates of Clinton, OK. Also, a niece of Lawrenceville, GA.,(4) grandchildren, ( 8) great-grandchildren, (1)great great grandchild and many close and lifelong family friends. Her greatest source of joy and happiness was caring for her family.
In Lieu of Flowers, she requested any donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Ocker-Putman of Fort Smith, AR.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee the time and date will be set at a later date.
