Shirley Davis, 80 was born on July 12, 1943 the Ida Foster and Hugh Davis, in Georges Plain, Westmoreland, Jamaica and died on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
He was married to the love of his life, Mazel Davis (Tootsie) as he called her. Shirley has three children; Christopher, Raymond and Claudine, he also has seven grandchildren and many adopted kids who always loved to be around him and he liked to keep them entertained.
As a young man, Shirley started working at Hills Shoe Store and then worked for the Jamaica National Water Commission from 1961 to 1985 after which he migrated to the United States. Once in the United States he worked for Duane Reed, R & S Strauss, and then Pfizer Pharmaceutical from 1989 to 2007.
Shirley moved from New York to Florida in 2007 where he started his Garden Life, each day he would work like a paid employee from 9 to 5 and then put in a lot of overtime. As long as the sun was up he would stay outside tending his garden. He loved to share whatever was in the garden, a plant, a piece of fruit, he always made sure that whoever came by left with something.
Although Shirley was a quiet man, he loved music and his camera. If there was an event to go to, he would always turn up with his camera. Most people may look at Shirley and think that he was a quiet man and did not speak much, but he listened and thought before he spoke and asked questions. Shirley gave his life to the Lord at an early age and gave the assurance that he knew where he was going. Shirley loved his wife, his children and grandchildren and always tried to do his best for each one.
The family of Shirley Davis will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Poinciana. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Shirley Davis will follow the visitation at 1:00 P.M. in the sanctuary at the First Baptist Church of Poinciana, 601 Walnut Street, Kissimmee, Florida 34759 with Dr. Wayne Harrell officiating.
